Today mom made her delicious stew. The whole house smelled of all sorts of delectable flavors. She promised I would get some later when it cooled down. She makes her stew a little spicy though. I know this because, dad was sweating bullets by the time he was done with his bowl. I can't wait to have mine. It is driving me loopey.
There is a big mess in the kitchen for mom to clean up now. Maybe she will let me lick the bowl. Then I can get covered head to toe in the yummy stuff. WOO HOO!!!!!
Mom is going to reveal her recipe to everyone....... Here she is.....
spicy Winter Stew
1 lb. Stew meat
1/2 cup flour
1/4 Cup vegetable oil
1/2 Green pepper
1/2 Onion
2 Stalks celery
2 Cups baby carrots
8 Small potatoes
1/2 Can tomato paste
1/2 Can corn
1/2 Can green beans
1 Can mushrooms
1 Can Diced tomatoes
1/4 Cup Franks hot sauce
1 Tablespoon onion powder
1/2 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon lemon pepper
1 Teaspoon fresh chopped garlic
1/2 cup Wondra
1.First take your stew meat and put it is a ziplock bag with 1/2 cup of flour. Shake it vigorously until all meat is covered thoroughly with flour. Put 1/4 cup oil in fry pan and cook meat over low heat until lightly browned on the outside.
2.Chop onions, green pepper and celery. Cut each baby carrot and small potato in half. Add corn, mushrooms, and diced tomatoes to pan. Do not drain vegetables!! Next add tomato paste with two can fulls of water. Blend thoroughly.
3.Cook on high heat for 6 1/2 hours, in crockpot. If using stove top cook on medium/low 3 1/2 hours. Make sure to put a lid on the pan. Stir frequently.
4. Thicken stew with Wondra flour, and let set for 30 minutes.
Enjoy everyone.
It is time again to go outside and play tug of war for a while. Then of course it is bed time. Can you believe dad and mom are putting me in the bathroom until I am house broken. I use to sleep in a crate on their bed. Mom says I whine too much and she can't sleep. So now I get the bathroom. Oh well, I guess it is bigger than the crate.
