Splish Splash

Today was pretty out. The leaves were a lot of fun to play in. Dad and mom took me to the park and we ran around in the leaves. I ate a few acorns and chased a couple of sticks. Mom said it was no wonder I like acorns, I am as big as a squirrel. I don't think that was nice.
Later in the evening after we went to Burger King, the strangest looking creatures showed up at our door. I tried to leave with the creatures (kids), after I saw how easy it was to get free food, but dad and mom wouldn't let me go. I almost made a clean break one time though. You have to give me an A+ for trying. Maybe next year. I'll start planning tomorrow.
Mom ate a bunch of candy tonight and got kind of weird. Dad ate something sour and he crinkled up his face. It was funny, he made mom laugh.
Here is a doggie treat recipe that sounds yummy.

For your pampered Prince or Princess

Biscuit dough:

1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/3 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup water

Glaze:

1 large egg
2 tablespoons milk

1. Preheat the oven to 275 degrees
2. In a large bowl: combine the flour, oatmeal, wheat germ, peanut butter, vegetable oil, honey, baking powder and water.
3. Mix the ingredients until thoroughly combined.
4. Roll the dough out to a 1/2-inch thick on a lightly floured surface. Cut into desired shapes and place on the baking sheets.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the egg and milk. Brush the glaze on the biscuits.
6. Bake for 30 minutes. Rotate the pans, and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until biscuits are golden and firm.

Taking on the World One Day at a Time

I am growing quickly. My legs are getting much longer. Plus I have learned how to bark. Dad likes to hear me bark. For the longest time I would only bark for everyone else, but him. I had to make him think I was still daddies lil princess. Alas, I has come out of my shell and began to show him my true colors. It is really funny listening to him make barking noises at me trying to get me to bark back. It is a fun game. Daddy is so silly.
Mom was busy today. She cooked a huge dinner. She made breaded pork chops, cornbread stuffing, macaroni salad, and apple crisp. It was all so tasty. Of course I got my helping. They are so good to me. She finished settling the back bedroom and bathroom. It is too clean. I can not find anything to chew up anymore. Bummer, she is no fun sometimes.
Daddy took a few naps today and I got to curl up on the sofa with him. I love to sleep, it is right up there with eating and tinkling. Since Grandma and Grandpa Smith have left, mom and dad have lots of time for me. It is much less busy around here. Mom says to dad that she LOVES it. It is very very hard living with so many people. Too many people to tattle on me. Now I can take over the world and maybe no one will notice.
Dad got mad at the big doggie next door tonight, again. He was made because the dog came after me when I was trying to tinkle and it scared me to pieces. I stopped tinkling and it made dad mad that the dog scared me so bad. I was just left shivering and whining.
Well, I hear I get to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Hart soon. I am so excited I could tinkle.
Dad is headed to bed so I have to scurry off too.

Too Pooped to Party

Today mom finished the curtains. It was quite a task, atleast that is what she told dad. I think she likes to sew. I don't mind, I like chewing her material.
Dad and I hung out a lot today. He took me to get some pop, and played with me out in the sunshine. I love chewing sticks. I am not quite sure why he decided not to chew on one with me.
My new favorite past time is running around with moms underwear in my mouth and dads sox. It is fun. They get into it too. They chase right after me. I think they should find their own things to chew up, and leave mine alone.
We had potroast, and porkchops tonight. It was so yummy. Mom always sneaks bites to me under the table. We have worked out a system. I rub against her leg under the table and she passes me a nibble. Works for me.
After dinner mommy and daddy spent time chatting outside. Brrrr....it sure is getting cold out there. They forgot to put my jacket on me. Can you believe their nerve. Sending meout naked in October. It is abuse I tell ya.
Mom was real excited yesterday about me being able to meet Grandpa & Grandma Hart, but she is sad today because we can't do it afterall. I was really looking forward to it too. I hear grandmas spoil their grandpuppies. I am so looking forward to it.
It is late and dad is knocked out, I think I will join him. I like snuggling under his chin. Sometimes he makes bear noises though. It scares me, and I shiver.

Rain is Funny

Today was a very quiet day. My mom was making curtains so she was busy all day long.
This morning I woke mom up around 4:00, and she stayed up. I was tired though and fell back to sleep with dad. At 7:30 this morning mom made breakfast for dad and herself. I got nibbles too. Her eggs are so yummy. After breakfast dad went back to bed and mom still stayed up! Does she ever sleep. It is no fun waking her up when she won't go to bed to begin with. What is a puppy to do?
I went out doors this afternoon there was funny wet stuff falling on my ears and whiskers. I kept trying to pounce on it and bite it, but I could not catch it. I chased it around and it was way faster than me. That is saying a lot because I am fast!
After lunch mom was still working on curtains. So, I got taken for a walk. I like my walks. Within the first block there is another doggie just like me. I wish we could play together. Just across the street is a big bully dog, mom says is a pitbull (I think that might be a bad kind of dog). I stay far away from him. He barks real loud at me though.
Tonight mom fell asleep on the couch and then went to bed. She must have been really tired. I napped with her though. I figured I need my sleep too, otherwise I wouldn't be able to wake her up around 3:00 in the morning to go outside. Grandpa and grandma Smith took me for another walk this evening. They go out every night, without leashes, to visit the other doggies. They are lucky. Mom put a silly sweater over my adorable "Princess" t-shirt. I was bundled up tight. It is getting cold outside. I wish I had more hair on my belly.
I can't wait to meet my Grandpa & Grandma Hart. Mom told me she will just eat me up. I am a little scared. I have seen their pictures and they look nice. Not at all the kind that would eat a cute lil puppy like me. Mom says that Grandma Hart won't be allergic to me. That makes her real happy. Grandpa doesn't like puppies too much I guess. Well, he hasn't met me yet. I will wiggle my way into his heart.
I am going to go snuggle with dad. He looks sleepy now.

Pumpkins, Ponies, and Hot Dogs...OH MY!!

Today was a day filled with fun. This afternoon my dad and mom took me out with them to get pumpkin ice cream. It was so yummy. When we got to the ice cream place people were looking at me and wanting to pet me. I get so much attention everywhere I go. I guess it is the curse of cuteness. One lady asked if my name was Fifi (after noticing my brightly painted pink nails). What a silly name that would be. Couldn't she see my name on my tag. Oh well, and they say dogs aren't smart. Dad, mom and I walked down to the park, sat by the riverside and ate our ice cream. I got a little cold so I gave up on the ice cream and snacked on a nearby stick. It was quite tasty. Once our ice cream was gone, we piled back into the car and headed out. I was so tired from all the walking, attention, and ice cream I crashed right out on moms lap. Her and dad are so snuggly. I was waken only a half and hour later when we jumped out of the car at a place where there were lots of kids and pumpkins. Oh yeah, and apples everywhere. I heard mom say she wanted to see them make cider. Unfortunately mom was bummed out because it was so late that the presses had stopped. Instead of watching the apples get squashed (and there was lots of that there too(squash)), we walked down a big hill to see ponies. They sure looked tired and bored. I wasn't so sure I liked the ponies though. They look awful heavy. We went inside a little store with all sorts of smells in it. I wanted to eat everything, but mom wouldn't let me.
The day ended with a bonfire in our yard. We roasted hot dogs, NOW I know what happens to naughty puppies!!! Yikes. They did taste yummy though. I tried to swipe moms and she got upset. I did manage to get half of her bun. Unfortunately the stuff she had on it got all over my fuzzy pink jogging outfit. Mom is good at stains, hehe.
Well, after such a long day I am ready to go to bed and sleep at least three hours before I get up for my night time potty and nibble time. Mom looks so tired at 3:00 in the morning when I have to go outside, snack and play. She needs to go to bed earlier. So when I start whining to get up, she can play longer.
Happy Trails everyone.
